Sharp Sport Event Monitors: all eyes on the perimeter

Europe, 30.03.2011

Whether for brilliant goals, nail-biting scores or high-quality advertising messages – digital information and advertising display are gaining increasing importance at sports events. With the PN-V601 Thin Bezel Monitors, Sharp provides a preassembled indoor perimeter advertising system that is ready for installation and operation in extra-short time. High-quality safety glass ensures that even direct hits with a ball cannot do any damage. Brilliant displays without moiré effect, even during camera panning, combined with problem-free colour temperature adjustment for arena lighting and camera calibration ensure the optimal conditions for TV broadcasts.

The action at sports events will no longer be confined to the court or playing field in the future: now, the perimeter ad space is becoming an attraction in its own right.  The PN-V601 display’s give brilliance to sponsor clips and communicate information with bright and clear precision. In particular for perimeter advertising at indoor events, this range of professional LCD monitors from Sharp provides a convincing response to even the most demanding requirements: the monitors have a diagonal screen size of 152 cm and can be joined together (e.g. to form a 40-metre long perimeter board in an indoor arena). With a bezel width of only 6.5 mm between monitors, the display provides an almost entirely seamless image without disruptive separation lines. “In addition to the imposing size and virtually seamless overall picture, the brilliant picture quality of the PN-V601 means that the monitor will catch the eye at any sport event,” says Peter Heins, Product Manager Professional Monitors at Sharp Electronics (Europe) GmbH.

Not only spectators in the arena, but also sponsors and advertising partners will benefit from the fact that the full-array LED backlighting of the PN-V601 system guarantees optimal picture brightness – regardless of external lighting conditions and the content to be displayed. The screen resolution of 1366 x 768 pixels ensures optimal picture quality, even up close. Also, the combination of impressive colour depth with a particularly high brightness of 700 cd/m2 means that even in unfavourable ambient lighting conditions the picture will have high contrast and uniform brightness – not only for the people actual at the event but also in TV broadcasts.

A particular advantage for indoor event organizers is that the thin bezel monitors have premounted fittings for extra-quick installation and immediate readiness for use. High-quality safety glass ensures that even direct hits with a ball cannot do any damage. The displays are simple to adjust to the local arena lighting, and even colour temperature adjustment to adapt to the arena lights and camera calibration presents no problem. The high resolution ensures that pan shots are displayed without disruptive moiré effect. The system can be easily and conveniently controlled with the Sharp Digital Signage Software. With this software, various monitors can be programmed either individually or in blocks. Multiple renting of advertising space per module or in sequence is possible. For even more advertising revenue, the back of the display systems can be used for local printed advertising.

Champions of efficiency

Their long operating life and high reliability even in continuous operation mean that the PN V601 thin bezel monitors not only provide top quality but are also highly economical. From the earliest production stage, Sharp lays great emphasis on efficiency: the display’s for these monitors with seamless multi-screen capability are produced at Sharp’s ultra-modern factory in Sakai. With this plant, the Japanese electronics group has become the first company in the world to be able to produce panels from 10th generation mother glasses measuring 2.88 x 3.13 metres and to process these panels into LCDs for professional monitors.
This indoor perimeter advertising system will be used for the first time at a Handball Champions League match by EHF Marketing.
