Innovative Touch Monitor from Sharp: the Creative Tool for the Professional Work Environment

Europe, 18.02.2011

Sharp has developed a new tool for the professional work environment in the form of the PN-L601B monitor. The 60 inch (152 centimetres) touch screen facilitates efficient, comfortable and creative work in a team thanks to its intuitive user interface. The combination of the touch panel with touch pen, innovative recognition software and a light-intensive display make it possible to immediately integrate changes into existing drafts on the monitor.

Sharp is introducing a new generation of interactive monitors for creative teamwork in a professional work environment with its PN-L601B. The touch-sensitive 60” monitor is the perfect instrument for fields of application in which communication is the key to success. From drawings, animations or text documents, all contents displayed on the screen can conveniently and intuitively be supplemented by handwritten notes using the touch pen, a specially developed digital writing instrument. The system can even automatically recognise lines and texts which are entered directly onto the monitor surface by finger and incorporates them into the existing images on the screen.

A solution which combines numerous innovations

‘Our new touch panel monitor has a special integrated infrared recognition system made up of multiple infrared sensors.  They register the position of the touch pen or hand in front of the screen with lightning speed and absolute precision’, explains Peter Heins, product manager for professional monitors at Sharp Electronics Europe. ‘A high-performance LCD panel with full-screen white LED backlighting completes the solution. Because the distance between the touch screen and the LCD panel is extremely small, the screen reacts to entries made with the touch pen with exceptional speed and liquidity’, Heins continues.

Pencils and erasers for the screen

The PN-L601B is an inspiring tool for everyone who presents and works on slides, diagrams or other complex contents in rapid succession – from project managers and architects to coaches. The touch screen shows its strengths when a product presentation is being coordinated at a company, a draft is being rethought at an architect’s office, ideas need to be outlined using diagrams at a video conference or complex connections have to be explained and answers have to be collected in school classes and professional training sessions.

‘With presentations and drafts on a conventional monitor, time-consuming notes have to be taken when new input comes up. On the PN-L601B, changes can be made directly without keyboard or mouse entries,’ says Peter Heins. ‘A variety of pen colours and functions are available for processing, as is an eraser. This makes it possible to add comments, underline passages of text or draw connection lines,’ Heins continues.

Seamless integration in everyday work life

The professional PN-L601B touch monitor can additionally be connected to a PC or Sharp MFP (multi-function product). Image data which is generated on the screen during an interactive work session can be saved directly on the computer or printed out using the Sharp MFP connected. This contributes to the efficiency of meetings and training sessions and ensures that no suggestion ends up being lost.

The PN-L602B is on sale now.
