Boutiques and snack bars have different cash register requirements from hotels or department stores. As one of Europe’s leading cash register manufacturers, Sharp is focusing even more intensively on the needs of businesses in retail and gastronomy by upgrading the performance of its XE-A307, XE-A207 and XE-A217 models.
‘Space is often quite limited in small businesses. Which is why the cash register should be as compact and as visually appealing as possible,’ explains Regina Hamersky, marketing and sales director (SoHo) at Sharp Electronics Germany/Austria. ‘Of course there are also functions which have a special degree of importance to these kinds of businesses in particular. That’s why our three new cash registers are equipped with a multi-line LCD operator display which provides an easy overview in the all-too-often hectic business of running a bar or kiosk.’
Another new and important feature of all three cash registers is the SD card slot for backing up programme and sales data: The Federal Ministry of Finance has recently considerably heightened the statutory requirements on storing digital documents on cash transactions. All tax-relevant business transactions recorded on the cash register, such as sales in cash, cancellations or withdrawals from the register must now be available at any time for ten years in a form which is instantly readable and can be evaluated by machine. Thanks to the SD card slot, these transactions can now be saved digitally. This makes it easier for the user to comply with legal regulations. The registers of the XE-A series comply not only with German principles of data access and auditing of digital documents (GDPdU), but also with the accordant Austrian legislative decree (1).
The XE-A307 model is ideally configured for use in retail establishments. The XE-A207 model’s strengths lie in use in kiosks and retail stores, while the XE-A217 model triumphs in snack bars, fast food restaurants and kebab stands, as well as in conventional gastronomy. All three registers come in an elegant new design and are available in white (XE-A307) or in white or black (XE-A207 and XE-A217). ‘The black XE-A207 makes its mark as a design element, especially in small, stylish retail stores such as boutiques. The XE-A217 in black is particularly resistant to dirt and discolouration,’ explains Hamersky. ‘This is of particular importance at catering businesses. A clean work environment is a must wherever food is handled.’
Sharp puts particular emphasis on optimum customer service with all of its registers. For instance, they provide a service hotline which one can use to ask skilled Sharp product experts for advice at any time. Sharp service partners can even pick up the cash register within 48 hours (2)(3) and exchange it for an equivalent replacement machine in situations which require manual intervention.
All models are available in stores starting August 2011.
